06.17Motivational Speaker
As many of you will know I work for the ETB and STEM as a motivational speaker (visiting lecturer) and Ambassador. I have worked in a range of schools and colleges giving talks to teenagers right up to university professors giving advice on careers in STEM subjects, routes into them and how to get more people interested in STEM. I do this through talking about my experiences and more work with Snowboard design…not your stereotypical job for an engineer and I’m certainly not your stereotypical view of who an engineer is.
I can be booked to give one of these motivational talks at your school or college though the ETB on their website engineersmakeithappen.com or if your lucky enough to be in my STEM catchment you may get an opportunity to have me give a talk at your school or college through that – I’m going to my old school in July 2009
The ETB is a government funded initiative and mainly focused around 16-18 year old students so if your interested in a talk for younger students or those at university or just a local group who you think might be interested they might not be able to provide the funding for the lecture but its worth a try. I have however done talks for a couple of classes outside this target group on a private basis and if you are interested in booking me then please email liza@doctorsnowboard.co.uk. The ETB has referred a two of these talks on to me because they didn’t fit in with the program.
The motivational talks will be targeted and conducted according to the audience and the requirements of the lecturer in-charge of the group. The lectures are given through a combination of powerpoint slides, videos and open discussion with students so they get the maximum benefit from them. All of this can be adjusted and each lecture is written on an individual basis as no two groups of students are the same nor have the same requirements.
For anymore information of this please email me
I have also recently been added to Sciencelive.net as a professional science communicator. I have a full CRB check from STEM since I am a STEM ambassador and I hope this will enable me to provide talks to younger students as well as those at the age of 16.
